Becoming a mother in the military was no easy journey. I realized very quickly that I had to make a choice between serving my country or being the mother I knew my children deserved. After 10 years, a change that big came with a lot of fear and doubt.
The moment I laid eyes on him, I knew he would be mine. It didn’t have to be that day, or even the days afterward but one day. I could feel it.
The military is all I knew for 10 years of my life. To say that walking away from it was hard is an understatement but my “why” was more deeply rooted than just a love of the lens.
